Buttery, soft, a semi flaky top, cooked pretty good imo. Inside was packed full of bacon, a few tender pieces of steak and the cheesey gravy was 👌👌the gravy content was spot on. when I started eating it I was sceptical that it would fall apart, passed the one hand test lol. held up perfectly. Michael Dow: Continues to have great pastries with the new owner. Some new things are being tried, eg, the danishes have a clear jelly coating, which is a bit thick and so looks odd. There are some new products: a Nutella cream filled pastry, which has too much filling. If you like pastry cream you might love it. My kids were delighted initially, but then gave up on it and ate around the filling.
Brenton Collas: Croissants are back on. I had an average experience here after the change of ownership, but went past this morning and grabbed a couple of plain croissants. They were fantastic. Looking forward to returning for my croissant fix.
Karl: The Best Croissants in Adelaide! These croissants are light and buttery while also being flakey and the right amount of chewy! Many other treats in store to try also but for me it’s a classic croissant every time. Make sure to phone ahead if you want some because they seem to sell out quick!

Roma van der Walt: I rarely write a review just to counter the reviews of people who don't take the time to get to know a legacy business like Canelle. They sell the best croissants in Adelaide, period. Those who have been going for years or even decades, would have known that there was a change in ownership between parties that had been in contact for a long time and knowing that the previous owner wouldn't have sold to someone they didn't trust with their recipe. And with change, comes a bit of adjustment. The difference in dough was due to external circumstances and was fixed by the current owner quickly. If you take the time to chat with him, he loves his trade, takes it very seriously and spends hard working hours none of us would want to work, to ensure that his baked goods come out as close to perfect as possible. He shouldn't be negatively impacted by a one-off experience. But frankly, for those who aren't going back: More croissants for us!

The Perryman family founded Perryman’s Bakery in 1925 and the business stayed in the family for 3 generations until it was sold to us in 2011.
The Perryman’s based the business on tradition, with many of the items baked using original family German recipes. This tradition continues today, as we bake onsite daily using premium, locally sourced ingredients including free range eggs, flour, vegetables, dairy and meats.
We pride ourselves on our artisan sourdough and ciabatta bread range, which included rolls, viennas, baguettes and sandwich loaves. We produce and bake our bread fresh daily, Monday to Sunday.
We can create a variety of cakes for birthday and other special events. Using quality ingredients including free range eggs and fresh cream, a cake by Perryman’s is great for any kind of celebration. Cakes can be personalised with a message written on top and your choice of decoration.

Kelly Mearns: Must be the best bakery in Adelaide! The food is so fresh and the taste is so good you just know high quality ingredients have been used. My favourite bakery by far.Consistent good quality food that keeps me coming back again and again.

Happy Mummy: . But please, your beef pies sell out early every day, while loads of sausage rolls, pasties and other pies still fill the shelves. Why won't you adjust to the demand? Please, make more pies! To line up for a while, only to find out the one thing you want is already sold out by 12pm, you can do better! I have seen other people disappointed by this too.

This happened another time I went in also. Both times, they refunded the difference, though it took a slight debate. You may need to identify a bum steer the new team members might be getting.

Their London buns are excellent, combining the right amount of sweetness with a hint of spice and currants for a balanced flavour. The pastie, filled with a well-seasoned mix of vegetables and meat, enclosed in a flaky, golden crust, and sauce inside the pasty, is the real deal.Parking: Lunch time on a beautiful sunny day is always going to be a challenge to find a park.

Mars Cuts: Always great to have a bakery near where you work. Especially when you need something quick for lunch. It felt like pie weather. The pastry, well cooked above and the underside perfect.The filling had delicious big soft chunks of steak, a nice peppery bang to the gravy, wasn't too powerful and not too weak, just the right amount of pepper. The meat to gravy ratio, a few more chunks of steak than the norm, but there's nothing wrong with that, works for me. The serving temp was pretty spot on and the pie held up together perfectly.It was a pretty decent pepper pie.Plain Mince Pie - $5.40Pretty good value for a pie my thoughts.Got it out of the bag. A tad smaller than what I was expecting, but for $5.40 you can't knock that. The pastry had a sort of whitish look to it. Has a nice soft lid, little bit of flakiness, cooked perfectly on top and the underside was good.Biting into it revealed a taste of onion, the mince had a very light brown look to it, no grissle. I Wasn't totally convinced with the gravy, i think it was lacking something. The mince to gravy ratio was ok, wasn't too runny or sloppy. The serving temp wasn't too bad and the pie held up nicely. Irene Lawrowska: Problem is they used to bake their breads without huge holes in them. They are either not put in a hot enough oven or simply not made the way they used too back in Alberton. Still tasty but not baked properly unfortunately for the price. Some are also doughy and slightly raw. For the price please return to baking your breads as good as they used to be a long time ago. Someone is cutting corners on this dough!

Leia Watts: Have lived in the area for years, and not been. Only found this place on a whim on Google maps. So I thank everyone who had reviewed previously.This is an exceptional local hot spot.While both times I’ve been recently, they’ve closed earlier than their website says - I’m positive it’s because they’re up so early and only have a small shop front and they service a lot of the local cafes with croissants.The variety is definitely something that will keep me coming back.Coffee not so great.And they really need some cutlery.Along with needing car parking spaces.However 100% give croissants a try! You will not regret it.

I have been buying the Pleasure cake for family birthday cakes for going on 10yrs after originally having it at a friend's wedding. It is the most delicious cake ever and so reasonably priced. The quality is always top tier!!! They also do amazing croissants... the almond croissant... sooooo good!

I have been to this place multiple times and loved it every single time.I believe the plain croissant is the best in Adelaide. I haven't had a better plane croissant anywhere else. The staff are very friendly and professional. Sourdough bread loafs are wonderful as well.Can't wait for another early morning treat here.
Dongwan Ko: Following my son's recommendation, I visited La Madeleine with curiosity and anticipation. I went there craving a delicious croissant, and it truly lived up to my expectations. The seasoning of the basic croissant was absolutely perfect. It was neither too salty nor too sweet, yet fluffy and crispy. The chocolate croissant and apricot croissant were soft, adding a delightful crunch and sweetness. I highly recommend it to everyone. It's a gem in Norwood, just as good as any place featured in the newspapers.
Kav TH: Such a delightful French Cafe located at Parade Norwood! They open early on weekdays at 6am! The Croissants 🥐 are out of this world! So fresh and delish! The almond croissant, Pistachio Raspberry, Apricot custard all so yummy. I wanted a chai latte today but they have runout of chai so I had a Latte instead! Coffee at this cafe is equally good. Highly recommend to try croissants and coffee here!
