Greg Hodson: Today we enjoyed a great day tour of the Penfolds McGill Estate Cellar Door. We were certainly spoilt. On arrival all the staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We arrived early so we had coffee and cake whilst we waited for tour and tasting. Our tour guide finally arrived and I must say it was the best that I have ever experienced.we arrived back to start our wine 🍷 tasting and the experience was sensational. The choice of wine was excellent and my wife and I had pre booked a loverly lunch at Penfolds. We had a very nice first class luncheon with some beautiful selections of food with some very nice wine to go with each dish. We were certainly looked after as it was our 35 wedding anniversary and we cannot speak highly enough of the staff all the way from our arrival to our code and cake then our tour and then lunch. To all the staff including our tour guide and restaurant staff and tasting staff a very big thank you. My wife and I would definitely recommend this venue for a visit and we are sure you will not be disappointed. My wife and I would love to sat thank for your hospitality and keep up the good work to all the team at Penfolds Magill Estate Cellar Door.

Jane Vincent: Wonderful tour guided by Ivan who shared his vast knowledge of Penfolds and their wines, as well as his Italian for some overseas guests. The wine tasting was very informative and Ivan's passion for wine was very evident.
Klaus Christensen: Extremely enjoyable, our host Ivan was very knowledgeable and took the time to make our tour special. The tasting were great and I suggest you pay the extra and try the Grange.
Heath Williams: We arrived for a tasting prior to our restaurant booking, when the cellar door was all booked out for a release. Although very disappointed, we were soon cheered up by Lachie who offered to accommodate us outside with a bottle of wine overlooking the vineyard and watch the sun set prior to dinner.Still haven’t done a tasting however are very grateful for the hospitality that was shown and will continue to drink Penfolds…will be back for my Grange purchase some time in the future. Lachie made our experience one that will continue our appreciation of Penfolds wines and make our visit memorable.

Caroline Tang: An amazing experience over the Kings Birthday weekend at the estate. We booked in advance and were a group of 3 in the tour out of approx 10 pax.Our guide Mark was knowledgeable from geology, history, wine production and wine tasting on all things Penfolds. He was extremely accommodating and personable offering a lot of insights particularly when rounding off the tour with a tasting.I highly recommend this tour as it offers abit of history & viewing of the stunning underground cellar in an intimate setting.Definitely a must see if you’re in the Adelaide city area.

Ash: I visited The Lane recently for a private function and was impressed with every aspect of the event. The space was beautiful, the food was delicious and the staff were exceptionally accomodating and attentive. A truly wonderful venue for a function.

Harrison Boviington: The Lane provided both a warm accomodating approach to wine tasting as well as extremely educational information. The cellar team was well trained, particularly T, who guided us through our wines and gave fantastic insight to the aspects that make The Lanes wine so significant. From soil composition to fertilisation we learned a lot but not without good laughs and jokes. From my experience a good winery experience is a balance of informative but not condescending. The Lane nailed this.All this being said, customer service was really not required to sell me these wines, the Chardonnay and Cabernet Savingnon in particular stole my heart, unsurprising being my two favourite varieties but not the region I would usually get my Cab Savs from; but alas, a great wine is a great wine and the Lane make great wine! Delicate and proud, will come again!

Czt: I love the wine, it's a great experience. The entrance is free. If you want a tour, you must arrive at 11am with a guide and you must pay. You can tour it alone and sit in the restaurant where you can hear and taste all the wines you want, depending on what you like and the price of each glass.

For the kids, we ordered fish and chips and fried chicken, and for the adults, chicken burgers. Unfortunately, everything was fried.However, the wine tasting is top-notch. Trying the flight of both red and white wines is a must. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir stood out, but all the selections were delicious.The wine exhibition, though informative, is small and could benefit from expansion to provide more insights into winemaking. Overall, the National Wine Centre shines in its wine offerings but could improve on its food and exhibition space.

Jun Kwon: Rustic corrugated iron shack, with a beautiful outlook. Tasty wines, especially their chardonnay, which was the best we've had so far in Australia, crisp light and fruity. The pinot noir was complex, chocolate and liquorice flavoured. Great rainy afternoon spent here. Note to self to come back in November to try the riesling!

The grapes for this wine are allowed a very extended period of ripening, during which the berries shrivel and therebyconcentrate the flavour, the sugar and the natural acidity.Since the climatic conditions required to achieve this are quite specific, this wine will only be made in exceptional years. The juice is fermented till the desired alcohol level is achieved, leaving a residual amount of sugar in the wine. This residual sweetness is kept in balance by a high natural acidity. The rich yet delicate nose is layered with spice, lemon zest, poached pear and meringue. The palate is unctuous yet lively with fresh citrus, delicatepoached fruits, white pepper and a lively long tail.Perfectly matched to your favourite dessert, all chocolate and a runny, ripe brie cheese! sydney goatcher: I did the ChocoVino red duo and absolutely loved it, the fortunato No 4 Dark was my absolute favourite! We also got the cheese plater which was excellent and a couple more samples of wine, my favourite being Zsa Zsa Zweigelt. Our server Kate really elevated our experience and overall made it an unforgettable visit!
Laura S: I highly recommend for the beautiful scenery and the wine is grown how they do in Austria so it is quite different to anything I have tried before.I did find the white wines to be more atringent and not mature enough but the reds had beautiful flavours. We ordered a few cases of red wine for delivery at home.The wine tastings are a bit different to back home in WA. You do not get discount or free tasting when you buy a bottle or case. I feel they would get more people buying the wine if the tasting was free when you spend X much.Overall I can not complain. The staff were knowledgeable and a must stop in Hahndorf.

My parents and I joined a tour where we could pick our own stops and we were all so pleased we chose Hanhdorf Hill. Vishal was passionate and knowledgeable and looked after us fabulously. We bought most of our wine from here and had the pleasure of watching a little of the grapes being harvested before Vishal very kindly brought us in some grapes to try with the matching wine.We paired our wine flights with a cheese platter which was just the right size to leave room for more wine!Do not pass this place up! The views are gorgeous and the wine even better.

Belinda Wellings: What a gem in the Main Street of Hanhdorf!We were drawn in by the tables in the sun, perfectly placed for people watching, as well as the allure of “Spanish and French platters”.Our hosts Lucy and Clinton were divine. Knowledgeable, fun and accomodating all our questions, they really made the experience a special one for us.On the wine front, we really rated their Shiraz, the best we’ve discovered in a long time.The reserve chardonnay is also very good.We spent an afternoon trying a few wines, eating bread and learning all about wines and history of the region.Definitely worth a stop in!
The Walking Critic: My wife ordered a $30, three-wine sample tasting of reds, which was mostly for my pleasure. And I'm not sure I was really in the mood for it, as I literally sipped, sampled and left three quarters of the wine in the glasses. But the whole experience was fun, tremendously relaxing and I'm glad I did it.

Pippy D: This was our 6th visit and it certainly didn't disappoint. The food was absolutely amazing. We have been coming since February this year and trying each month's menus. The highlight mains dishes for my husband this month was the mushroom tart and venison. Mine was the nomad chicken and the artichoke crustede. The desserts were all so delicious and intriguing. We could not pick a favourite this month, from the rice pudding with rhubarb and ginger, the Jerusalem artichoke ice cream with chocolate and blackberry, to the petite four of kiwi lolly and miso fudge. Yum yum yum 😋 . Well done chefs. The waiting staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. We learnt about the orchards on the property where the kiwi and fruits were picked from. Thanks for offering such high quality food and service. We will see you all again in August for the next menu. Love Dianne and Peter.

Next time we will as this is in a lovely location amongst the rolling Adelaide Hills .

Everything by was executed to perfection! They were extremely accomodating to dietaries and all of the staff had great knowledge of all the food and drinks. And of course the wines were delicious! This was the highlight of our trip to the hills region

The selection of wines I tried during my visit were beautiful as well.Plus points also for dogs being allowed. The views and the seating areas were also beautiful.

I was lucky enough to be able to order a trial dish for the spring menu, and will definitely be going back for the swordfish come Spring. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone. Absolute perfection!Vegetarian options: There were a number of vegetarian options which all sounded great, particularly the Tempura Zucchini FlowersDietary restrictions: The waiter asked right at the very beginning or our visit if anyone at the table had any allergies or dietary requirements. He indicated that they could accommodate requests or make suggestionsParking: Unsure of the number of spaces as we arrived at night, but there was no problem finding a park. There are two wheelchair accessible spaces, one either side of the entry, although they were not well signed or lit so almost drove past the second one - we missed the first.Wheelchair accessibility: The entry to the restaurant was level and easy to navigate, although the door into the restaurant was difficult to open from the chair, help was required, but that was a minor inconvenience. The tables were well spaced and easy to manoeuvre around. The waiter highlighted the best place to sit so the chair would not inconvenience the waiting staff. The conveniences were fully accessible.

Pretty much the first place from Adelaide you get to, I have driven past this place 100 times but today we finally visited and it was worth the stop. Wheelchair friendly access and flat floors with no steps and accessible toilets meant my father could easily join us - and the Pinot noir and Chardonnay was worth the stop. Great views across the vines too. Will be back!

I've brought my elderly mum here for afternoon tea in the past, but Easter weekend was the first with mates for the wine and cheese platters – and they didn't disappoint. From the relaxed garden setting under old oaks and elms to the very generous platter and superb wine, it was all perfect. But more than this, it's the wonderful service and warm welcome from all the staff that made Cobbs Hill the real standout, and a highlight of our weekend in the Hills. It will definitely be on the itinerary whenever I have friends in town.

BUT service was slow, pizzas were below average and bland, beef skewers were extremely tough, jaw ached after 2 pieces and left the rest. Very disappointing.

The grounds at Cobbs Hill is so picturesque and peaceful, such a beautiful location to spend an afternoon with a picnic basket. Mary Chin: We attended the Winter Reds festival staged amongst the barrels in Ngeringa’s straw bale winery over the weekend. Great wines! I especially liked the Pet Nat and the Chardonnay. The food served was farm to table and you can really taste the freshness of the produce they grow. My favourite producer of natural and organic wines in the Adelaide Hills!
