Scott Edmeades: I attended Dr James Mclean’s practice, Adelaide Shoulder & Upper Limb Clinic for my torn proximal bicep tendon and rotator cuff damage. He performed a bicep tenodesis, subacromial decompression and repair to the rotator cuff. That was 10 weeks ago.I am very pleased with the progress I have made and the amount of mobility that has returned to both the bicep and shoulder. The surgery was arthroscopic and the scars at this point are minimal and barely noticeable.He took me through the procedure behind hand and explained what he had done afterwards. Dr Mclean provided a large amount of material via YouTube which I thoroughly appreciated. He provided direction to my physio for post operative care.I am very impressed with the care provided by his team the entire way through the process and would have no hesitation in recommending him and his clinic. So much so I intend to undergo another procedure later this year. He can attend to the repairs but can’t stop the aging process!

The Frog: I was referred to Dr McLean by another orthopaedic surgeon who wanted me to be seen by the 'best' for my shoulder problems. How true that was !Dr McLean did a complex rotator cuff repair for me and I wish I had seen him much sooner. I was quite nervous about surgery but was given lots of information and reassurance about what had to be done. The resources provided to me both before and after surgery were of a high standard and easily understood. Check his website.I found Dr McLean to be friendly and approachable and very professional. He has built a great team that support him in his work and they also match his own qualities.Every case is different, I'm sure. But in my case, pain free after 4 days and no more pills !!! I took more painkillers in the last 3 years than I had taken in the previous 70 years. I am now in the rehab phase and it's going very well. But it must be done in a measured way.The last words from Dr McLean to me were: "I'm here if you need me". I sincerely thank you.

Doug, Forbes.: I am a 69 year old grey nomad, I fell in august and went to the local rural hospital and was told that I had dislocated my AC joint, due to my age they advised that there was nothing that could be done and I would have a bump there but it would heal. Due to the discomfort when we reached Adelaide in December we looked up on the internet and found James McLean, rang his clinic and got an appointment within a few days. On seeing James we were totally surprised by his caring professionalism and his willingness to explain what had to be done. We booked a time to have my shoulder reconstructed. On the day of the operation James, his nurses, assistant surgeon and the anaesthetist explained everything about the operation again and totally made me feel at ease. After the operation the hospital care and once released with my medication we got follow up phone calls and texts to confirm that I was doing well and did I require any additional medication or want to discuss anything with James. With regular clinic checkups my shoulder feels great. I would strongly recommend James McLean and his team for any upper limb and shoulder surgery. James and your team thank you.
Smee Again: Dr McLean is a very capable and highly experienced professional with a great amount of caring and empathy for the pain that his patients are experiencing.He listens to you,and goes that extra yard to put you at ease and address any concerns you may have.He has the charm and appeal of a doctor from your dreams which extends to all his staff including his nurse,she's fantastic at removing stitches,took them out without pain before i realised she'd started and I have no qualms at giving his clinic a ten out of ten. Astrodoberman: From start to finish the process for my knee replacement took four months and was handled in a friendly, positive and very professional manner by Dr Chien Wen Liew and his team. I came from outside Australia and the whole process from initial assessment to the post operative care including follow up was easy and straight forward. The staff have been very respectful throughout this process and were very responsive when I needed help. I cannot recommend this surgeon highly enough.

Dr P is the consummate ortho surgeon and super friendly. The theatre staff and recovery staff just outstanding at every point along my journey. Then nurse Olivia took me back to my room and cared for me. I think THE BEST nurse I've had in all my hospital visits. Everything done on time, precisely and with a smile. Alex: I have had some issues with my hips, which resulted in multiple surgeries. I have been seeing Dr Shahrokhi who has supported me from beginning to the end. I would like to start off by saying this man is truly a gentleman and has been respectful of us as a family as well as individually with our circumstances. He does not have a god complex, like some surgeons do and he was always shown a lot of patience and he would take the time to explain everything to me. Kosta Soumelidis: Dr Dan has been outstanding pre and post surgery. He’s extremely clear and kind and has been exceptionally thorough when answering my questions, helping me to understand my surgical procedure. I have been a yoga teacher and practitioner for over 25 years and have to say that after my shoulder surgery I’m able to get back to practising and teaching yoga without any pain or discomfort.I cannot recommend Dr Dan highly enough.The staff at Focus are also always helpful and nice.

The outcome of my surgery was 100% what it should have been, no complications. Kim runs the office like a well oiled machine, never missing a beat on the paper work side and Dr Dan is also accessible threw Kim in real time so there was no hold up on any paper work or questions that I had.I am speaking from experience as my first shoulder operation was done by the Adelaide sports hospital where compared to Dr Dan I was treated like a second class citizen, my surgery had terrible complications and the reception staff needed managing from myself. Lyn Page: I cannot recommend Dr Dan enough for Shoulder Replacement Surgery. He is a caring surgeon that has the patient’s welfare at heart. I had heard many horror stories about shoulder surgery and the recovery period although thanks to Dr Dan this proved to be unfounded. His directions for recovery including those to Physiotherapists are clearly set out in writing. Jennifer Price: My experience with Dr Bauze and staff at Sportsmed and Burnside Hospital -Stepney was outstanding.The reception staff were very friendly and professional.The staff in the pre- operative area were also very professional and helpful in creating a relaxed atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the cozy warm towelling robe and non-slip slippers! Meeting my anaesthetist and Dr Bauze, having everything well explained, was another highlight of my experience.Post operative care was excellent. Everything l needed was provided with smiles and exceptional care.Physiotherapist gave clear instructions, which was much appreciated.Post operative follow up call from Dr Bauze was reassuring and completed the whole experience.I have no hesitation in referring Sportsmed and Burnside Hospital -Stepney, to anyone who is requiring treatment/surgery.Jennifer McArdle.

VK8PC Arafura: I have had 2 new knees installed, first in 2021 my Right knee and then my left knee in 2024. I am very pleased with the outcome of both surgical procedures.Dr Bauze was excellent, I am very pleased with the outcome of the surgery. Service, food and physio were all great. Very convenient to have chemist, xray and coffee shop in the same area.
