Cannelle French Pastries: what do users think?

CY Leow: We had the pan au Chocolat and the custard cornetiWill definitely be back !

Michael Dow: Continues to have great pastries with the new owner. Some new things are being tried, eg, the danishes have a clear jelly coating, which is a bit thick and so looks odd. There are some new products: a Nutella cream filled pastry, which has too much filling. If you like pastry cream you might love it. My kids were delighted initially, but then gave up on it and ate around the filling.

Brenton Collas: Croissants are back on. I had an average experience here after the change of ownership, but went past this morning and grabbed a couple of plain croissants. They were fantastic. Looking forward to returning for my croissant fix.

Karl: The Best Croissants in Adelaide! These croissants are light and buttery while also being flakey and the right amount of chewy! Many other treats in store to try also but for me it’s a classic croissant every time. Make sure to phone ahead if you want some because they seem to sell out quick!

Nitin Khanna: Great people and awesome food

Roma van der Walt: I rarely write a review just to counter the reviews of people who don't take the time to get to know a legacy business like Canelle. They sell the best croissants in Adelaide, period. Those who have been going for years or even decades, would have known that there was a change in ownership between parties that had been in contact for a long time and knowing that the previous owner wouldn't have sold to someone they didn't trust with their recipe. And with change, comes a bit of adjustment. The difference in dough was due to external circumstances and was fixed by the current owner quickly. If you take the time to chat with him, he loves his trade, takes it very seriously and spends hard working hours none of us would want to work, to ensure that his baked goods come out as close to perfect as possible. He shouldn't be negatively impacted by a one-off experience. But frankly, for those who aren't going back: More croissants for us!

Their coffee and hot chocolate are very good, complemented by the real stars – freshly made croissants and other delectable bakery items. Moreover, if you want to practice your French, this is the right place to come.I will come back, next time with my family.Merci beaucoup.

jocelyne ricquebourg: Very good croissants.... better than some croissants from France.... yes it must be said.... excellent late coffee too... thank you for "the French touch"

Marty Godfrey: Steak, Bacon & Cheese pie $6.50this bakery specialises in french pastries, croissants 🥐, scrolls etc, but they also have pies ! not the biggest selection about 6 different varieties.Well the pie looked a decent size for six fifty, from the outside the pastry looked well cooked, the first bite sort of tasted a bit croissant like. Buttery, soft, a semi flaky top, cooked pretty good imo. Inside was packed full of bacon, a few tender pieces of steak and the cheesey gravy was 👌👌the gravy content was spot on. when I started eating it I was sceptical that it would fall apart, passed the one hand test lol. held up perfectly. The serving temp was spot on.a pretty decent tasting pie.Boulangerie 113, 113 Goodwood Rd, Goodwood, SA.

Michael Akkari: The Coffee:A rich-brewed coffee tends to be bold, with a deep, complex flavor. It’s often slightly bitter but well-balanced, with a smooth aftertaste. This type of coffee is perfect for pairing with sweet or buttery pastries, as the richness of the brew cuts through sweetness and balances it out, providing a well-rounded experience.Apricot Croissant combines the buttery, flaky layers of a classic croissant with the tangy sweetness of apricot. The apricot filling, when done well, offers a perfect contrast to the richness of the pastry. The crisp, golden exterior of the croissant gives way to a soft, airy interior, and the apricot filling adds a luscious, sticky center. The tartness of the apricot contrasts with the buttery flavor of the croissant, making it a light yet indulgent pastry. The sweetness isn’t overpowering, which allows it to pair beautifully with the deep, rich notes of a brewed coffee. The rich coffee acts as the perfect counterpart to the sweetness and lightness of the apricot croissant. Together, they provide a balanced taste experience—where the coffee’s depth complements the fruity brightness of the apricot, while the buttery croissant softens the coffee’s boldness. This makes for an ideal breakfast or afternoon snack pairing

Jess Elliott: La madeleine French pastry shop cakes are never disappointing. I have been buying the Pleasure cake for family birthday cakes for going on 10yrs after originally having it at a friend's wedding. It is the most delicious cake ever and so reasonably priced. The quality is always top tier!!! They also do amazing croissants... the almond croissant... sooooo good!

Pouria Aryan: The decor, pastry, coffee and especially the famous croissant are so good and lovely. Beautiful spot in Norwood to stop by. I have been to this place multiple times and loved it every single time.I believe the plain croissant is the best in Adelaide. I haven't had a better plane croissant anywhere else. The staff are very friendly and professional. Sourdough bread loafs are wonderful as well. Can't wait for another early morning treat here.

Dongwan Ko: Following my son's recommendation, I visited La Madeleine with curiosity and anticipation. I went there craving a delicious croissant, and it truly lived up to my expectations. The seasoning of the basic croissant was absolutely perfect. It was neither too salty nor too sweet, yet fluffy and crispy. The chocolate croissant and apricot croissant were soft, adding a delightful crunch and sweetness. I highly recommend it to everyone. It's a gem in Norwood, just as good as any place featured in the newspapers.

Kav TH: Such a delightful French Cafe located at Parade Norwood! They open early on weekdays at 6am! The Croissants 🥐 are out of this world! So fresh and delish! The almond croissant, Pistachio Raspberry, Apricot custard all so yummy. I wanted a chai latte today but they have runout of chai so I had a Latte instead! Coffee at this cafe is equally good. Highly recommend to try croissants and coffee here!

Towerりえ(Towerりえ): Thank you for the delicious cake for my sons' birthday, Will! It's gluten and nuts free, so we could eat the same cake with all the guests. The taste was so nice.I would highly recommend to everyone!

Kelly Mearns: Must be the best bakery in Adelaide! The food is so fresh and the taste is so good you just know high quality ingredients have been used. My favourite bakery by far.Consistent good quality food that keeps me coming back again and again.

Sea Breeze: .It would be nice to see a list of all the sweet items for sale, with prices. Or labels inside the glass cases. Nobody wants to quiz the staff on “what is this? And how much is it” on ALL the sweet options, esp when there are customers lined up behind you.My first visit, plenty reasons to go back for, another day. Thai sausage roll for lunch etc, and beestings in different sizes.Hardworking staffParking: Ok amount of 30min parks outside the bakery, but was not there at peak time.

James McCall: The best vanilla slice I’ve ever had, and the children gave their kranskies and cinnamon donuts a 10/10.Also, the way the staff handled a rude, bossy old woman is to be commended. But that’s North Adelaide for you, I guess.Great job to a bakery that’s punching well above its weight.

Chad Mckenzie: Great local bakery, I couldn't believe how many people came in buying the sòurdough bread.Coffee was really good and we enjoyed sitting out under the umbrellas watching the world go by.Staff were full of good cheer and were very welcoming.

Max Chaff: An absolute institution of North Adelaide. It was slinging baked wares well before my parents were conceived and hopefully will still be doing so after I am long gone. The pasties are arguably the best in adelaide, they aren’t quite up to their prime from around 15 years ago but hands down the best beesting in adelaide and the cheese and onion sourdough is the greatest bread I have ever had the pleasure of consuming. The only pity is they only offer the sourdough on Saturdays. An excellent kids playground is at the end of the street a great excuse for a bakery picnic outing when the kids are sick of toast.

Happy Mummy: . But please, your beef pies sell out early every day, while loads of sausage rolls, pasties and other pies still fill the shelves. Why won't you adjust to the demand? Please, make more pies! To line up for a while, only to find out the one thing you want is already sold out by 12pm, you can do better! I have seen other people disappointed by this too.

Rachel: Ordered a selection of cocktail sweets for a special occasion. Excellent quality, easy to order online, was ready on time & staff great to deal with.

This happened another time I went in also. Both times, they refunded the difference, though it took a slight debate. You may need to identify a bum steer the new team members might be getting.

John Bednarz: I was in Port Adelaide needing a coffee fix and was fortunate to stumble on the unassuming Mayfair Bakery & Patisserie cafe. My double shot cafe latte was of the highest order and I just could not resist sampling a homemade pasty and Belgian chocolate cheesecake which were just as impressive as the coffee. Daniel: Surprisingly wonderful place. Service was friendly, and the place had a cohesiveness and sense of identity about itself. The menu had some great French inspired selections. But the standout for me was that the French Toast was wonderfully different from what you typically find everywhere else. Instead of just being served with strawberries and maple syrup, this had a wonderful selection of fruit. Great attention to details, colours, textures and flavours, with little watermelon cubes, grilled pear, mandarin segments etc. It was delicious but also made it really unique. Will 100% return

Krystle Jencik: Never been to a French restaurant in Adelaide was delicious calm atmosphere and friendly service.First time having French onion soup. So I thank everyone who had reviewed previously. This is an exceptional local hot spot. While both times I’ve been recently, they’ve closed earlier than their website says - I’m positive it’s because they’re up so early and only have a small shop front and they service a lot of the local cafes with croissants. The variety is definitely something that will keep me coming back.Coffee not so great. And they really need some cutlery.Along with needing car parking spaces. However 100% give croissants a try! Paul Priz: Many places pass themselves off as bakeries while primarily serving patisserie-style sweets. Brighton Jetty Bakery, however, delivers genuine baked goods. Their London buns are excellent, combining the right amount of sweetness with a hint of spice and currants for a balanced flavour. The pastie, filled with a well-seasoned mix of vegetables and meat, enclosed in a flaky, golden crust, and sauce inside the pasty, is the real deal.Parking: Lunch time on a beautiful sunny day is always going to be a challenge to find a park.
