One of the best Chinese restaurants in Adelaide. Have been going there for years, always consistently good - run by smart Chinese who know about good customer service. Simple, no fuss, no attitude, & so reasonably priced. Love it. The favourites are the Shallot Pancakes to start with. Deep fried shredded beef is sweet & crispy - so moreish. BBC = Broad bean, Bean curd & Chinese chutney - my absolute FAVE - can’t get enough of this one. Granny's Bean Curd Clay Pot With beef mince has a nice gentle chilli kick. Salt & Pepper Squid on this occasion was a tad average - unusually so. But overall, the meal was a total feast enjoyed by the family. Can’t wait to go back.

Suzanne Haynes: The staff at Ying Chow were amazing, they were so friendly and helpful, smiles all the time and very attentive. We enjoyed entrees of chicken and corn soup very nice, thick with pulled chicken, Dim Sims, steamed with generous and tasty filling, curry puffs and satay chicken kebabs. We had the smoked duck pieces with a tea sauce, again generous served and nicely cooked, the fresh prawn and sugar pea dish had a lovely sauce with a perfect cook on the prawn. I can't remember the names of the two other dishes but they were also full of flavour .

Jasmine L: Absolutely delicious food and great service! Super duper recommend the barramundi Yello curry! Something is worth to die for!!!!! The fish is still so crunchy after being in the sauce !!!! Another highlight is the special - scallops!! Coconut and scallops?! Who would have thought !!!!! Wine list also good! We had white and red. Definitely recommend the red! 💕staffs are very nice and friendly!

Aman Mattoo: This place has been long awaiting on our list of places we wanted to try. The quality of food is very high, ingredients and products used are of fantastic quality. My favourite dish was the beef cheek, perfectly braised and melting in the mouth and very gelatinous the way I expected it to be. The salt and pepper squid had a nice sweet and sour dressing drizzle over it although i could enjoy the squids a bit more crispy with the dressing only in the salad and not so much on the squids. The other dishes sounded very appealing and would love the come back to try them out too. Ill get straight to the highlight of the evening and that was Carmen the wait staff. She explained all the specials to us, gave us enough time to settle in and made some great recommendations and came and checked on us every now and then to make sure we had everything we needed. She served us with a smile through the evening.Great place and would definitely go back.

Fev Simatos: We have been visiting HoC for over a decade. Tonight was the best it has been in a while. New menu, same favourite dishes. Crispy Duck pancakes, best crispy duck ever. Everything was fresh and delicious. Service was excellent, quick and attentive. Atmosphere was great. Not too busy but not quiet. Overall we just had a great dinner. So happy new ownership are succeeding for this institution!

Charlie Custer: Service staff were good but it's confusing unless you have been to this establishment before. Yum cha was decent but no menu, so you have to know what they have and what you want or you say yes to what's being offered to your table and hopefully the offerings appeal to you or you get a variety of choices. My drink order was incorrect twice but the food was ok for the price. I'll go back again to try this place, because I want to like it and I see great potential for this place. Disabled people will find it hard to navigate the dining areas and no place to store a walker. I did request this in my booking.

The meals, staff and atmosphere is awesome.The business is still up for sale, but we will continue to eat there as long as we can.November 2023Visited our favourite restaurant again, had crispy beef, special fried rice and honey chicken, always so yummy. The owners have put their restaurant back on the market, so this place is up for sale again. Again, we'll still be eating here until we can't anymore.April 2024Visted many more times since November 2023. But an update on the sale of The Lotus. The owners have sold, sad for us as we will miss the Honey Chicken and Crispy Beef ☹ But Happy for Wendy and her husband, as they can finally retire. We were informed that the doors close at the end of the financial year 2024. So get in for a delicious meal, but they will be closed for the first 2 weeks of May and then open again until the end of the financial year. Lovely staff, delicious food, will miss them, so we'll be visiting as much as we can before closing.Kid-friendliness: Children are welcome and they have a children's menu.

Jessica Yao: It is one of my favorite restaurants. The most distinctive feature is the roast duck, which has crispy skin and fragrant meat, and is beautifully presented! It can be said that the dishes here are made very carefully, and they can capture the characteristics of the ingredients and pay attention to the embellishment details in the process of serving. Each dish has a different taste and shape. Dining here is a taste and visual enjoyment!
Bernadette Mc Namara: Service was a little slow on the night we visited...however..once our order was taken our food arrived in a short time...soup...crispy chicken in soy scallion oil..savoury pork...the BEST BBC we have ever tasted...a fried rice to die for..and plenty of it...we dined and did our utmost to try and eat it all...but there was NO WAY we could have finished the generous flavoursome proportions! Always a pleasure visiting Nan Yuan and the front of house staff are good fun...a young trainee was obviously nervous..with limited English or perhaps nerves...was attentive without being obtrusive. Once again Nan Yuan delivered on good tasty food in comfortable surroundings with gorgeous crockery and lovely ceramic chop sticks! Always a pleasure dining here!

Jack Godden: Brilliant food, packed with flavour to an extent I'd never expect. When I went, it was about as busy as it possibly gets, and they still gave great service.Went with 2 other family members, and we all agree it's the best cuisine of its kind we've ever had. The special fried rice is off the charts amazing.Large portions as they know you'll wanna take some home, and we did.Parking: Parking on Queen Street is abundant. Sometimes a 2-3 minute walk but always close.Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly but not a lot of kids facilities. The vibe lends itself well to mostly adult dining.
