Eddie Uchenna: I recently dined at Penfolds Magill Estate Restaurant and found the experience to be good, though not outstanding. The ambiance is certainly a highlight, with stunning views of the vineyard. The food was well-prepared, but some dishes fell short in terms of flavor. The wine pairings, however, were spot-on, elevating the overall meal. Service was attentive but could have been more personable. It’s a place that caters well to special occasions, but it didn’t quite leave a lasting impression on me.

Nicholas Van Der Sluys: I make a habit of dining at Magill Estate Restaurant whenever I am in Adelaide - it really is quite exceptional.That said, and maybe it is a case of too much of a good thing having dined four times in 18 months, the menu, stellar as it is, doesn't change often enough, even with seasonality of produce.Service from the maître d' and sommelier can be frosty, though the English waitress that served our table on two of my four recent visits is outstanding.The wine pairings are rigid and expensive. I find it preferable to order a few glasses plus a bottle of a lovely back vintage than to commit to the pairing.

Allen Tang: My wife and I patron this amazing restaurant last Friday to celebrate our joint birthdays together. The service was impeccable from the moment we were greeted at the door till we left. Even though there was a main waiter assigned to our table, we loved the idea of having the different cooks bringing out our food and explaining the food as they served us. We had their Signature Tasting menu and as I was not a red meat eater, the replacement of the red meat with another was great and I was happy with them. We had a bottle of their GSM wine too. The ambience was great and our table look out to the night skyline of Adelaide. Kudos to the Chinese male server who took care of us through out the night. Will definitely come again to try their rest of their menu.Dietary restrictions: Great substitutions!Parking: Plenty of parking just outside the main restaurant.

Ten Ton: The chefs here are a combination of both artists and scientists. This is not food served here, but beautiful and perfectly balanced taste stimulants whose flavours both confound and delight in their complexity. The best of which come before the maron, with the exception of the emu which is prepared in a way that patriotically rival the world’s best meats. Thanks to the excellent service, this is an exceptionally sophisticated experience and should be sampled by anyone who has the means. This experience would be best in the summer where twilight would allow visualisation of the garden surrounds and the preference for more sophisticated garden lighting, especially in the winter, is this restaurant’s only criticism. Bravo to the entire team.
Tim Quinney: A very unique experience.As the name suggests Botanics is definitely the theme of this restaurant and it's menu. Which personally I found to be at times challenging.Over the course of a few hours which never felt rushed, a very wide range of dishes were fed to us. There were none that were too difficult to palette but some that were a bit more floral than I perhaps was used to.The larger protein portions were all very tasty but I would say on the smaller end of fine dining tasting experiences.Overall I walked out feeling a little confused. It was certainly interesting but maybe not what I would say is delicious. Well worth the experience however.

Frankie Lam: Cutting edge technique and creativity in using Australian local produces. Have both looks and favours. Very enjoyable 4 hours, do not think any other restaurant produce anything that can match this.Downside is service at the beginning, seems the bar and kitchen do not commute well and make it feel bit rush.Anyway, this is last week run by Justin James, will see if the new chef can maintain and improve the reputation.

Bob Elliott: Restaurant botanic should be rated as AAAAA. It really is a once in a life time experience.The friendly greeting by Tom and Ruby. Removing our coats and umbrella. The detailed explanation of the experience we were to have was first class.Each dish was beautifully presented with local shrubs, leaves, rocks from the botanic gardens being used to high light wash dish.If Tom or Ruby were not giving a detailed explanation one of the many excellent chefs were out.There were 29 diners on the night and the whole experience took 4 hours.I am already saving the pennies to go again.Well done

Oliver Townsend: Me and my husband Antonio were sittiing peacefully until what we thought was a server came up to us and asked what we wanted my husband ordered a salad and I ordered a pasta, instead of writing down our order rthe little guy opted to tell me what the capital of Peru was he then asked if we wanted to know another fun fact. I said no but he proceeded to tell me what the 79th digit of pi was. Not impressed. Food was good though 5 stars

If I could give 4 and a half stars I would because I couldn't fault anything else.Shout out to the beef course - probably one of the best, if not the best thing I've ever eaten. Truly a chef's kiss moment.

Dyan Higgs: The restaurant is beautiful inside just need a bit more lighting to read menus. The mains were delicious I do recommend the wagyu rump and adobo chicken. The salad was dressed well too. We had the buffalo mozzarella as a starter it said chilli on the menu we couldn’t taste any it needed a little more zing. Overall we had a great time and would visit again
Chen Angel: The food, service and environment are very comfortable.The appetizers are delicious, kingfish yummy.The pasta is very special and has a very chewy texture.In addition, the staple beef is super delicious, and the fried onions go well with it.The tiramisu for dessert was also good but very sweet.Meal time is 6-9:30, very full.For a meal of 7 people, I had the impression that two bottles of white wine were opened, and the cost was about 750 Australian dollars.
Ben Anastassi: My wife and I wanted a date lunch Press* did not disappoint. We had a bottle of French wine which was described perfectly for us by the waiter and we were seated in a very nice spot where we could enjoy our time and chat together. We shared all of our dishes and the staff were so attentive and always cleared the dishes and wiped the table between serves. All flavors were great but the stand out dish was the kangaroo tartare the flavour was unexpected and amazing. Thankyou to the staff that looked after us and I apologise for not getting names to put in this review.
Coreen Taylor: We came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It had been a really tough previous 24 hours and our waitress Lulu was exceptional. She made our experience lovely, knowledgeable of the menu too. We loved the fresh oysters, our small plates of tuna and pork skewer, amazing kangaroo tartare and mains barramundi and the abodoe chicken with a side of Brussel sprouts was fresh and tantalising. We have been at least 5 times in the last few years it is that good.The entree and desserts are always my favourite as there are so many beautifully executed components on the plate. Franco Minoski: Went there yesterday for my uncles 100 birthday. In a private vaulted room with a beautiful view out the windows. The food and service from the 3 gentlemen looking after us was exceptional. The food was 5 star from entrees to dessert. Could not fault this restaurant. Very happy to recommend and next time in Adelaide will definitely be going back. Our group had a great day and my uncle had a beautiful day.

It’s a fine dining restaurant but I had better elsewhere. The barramundi was delicious but the white sauce was a bit too heavy so I couldn’t finish it. I had the prawns as a starter. The pastry wasn’t fluffy and crunchy as I imagined it. My husband had the venison and the sauce was a bit too sweet. The vegetables tasted well but a bit greasy. So the food I’d say was average for a fine dining in Adelaide. But overall it was a pleasant experience. Thank you

Hung Tu: Food was exceptionally well prepared but not all the dishes hit the mark in terms of flavour. The good dishes included the bread, the beetroot, the duck and the potato side. The rest was pretty average tasting as a whole. The octopus dish wasn't pleasant to my taste buds and nose. Service was very attentive. Maybe next time the menu will hit the mark, however for me this time it was sadly a miss.
Martin G: last week while staying at Sequoia Lodge at MtLofty House. The degustation at HVR was truly the best degustation we have experienced in recent memory. Not extensive in terms of the number courses, but another great dining experience, not just artfully composed but thoughtfully substantial and paired with a range of local wines chosen by the very knowledgeable and passionate sommelier Abhas, who in his descriptions provided quite a wine class. We had a wonderful evening which we can attribute to a delicious menu and to Abhas and his colleagues who provided friendly, impeccable service and contributed to a great atmosphere. Grateful to Simone, Jenn and Edgardo who were really attentive, and made our night all the more enjoyable.Many thanks.

Aman Mattoo: This place has been long awaiting on our list of places we wanted to try. The quality of food is very high, ingredients and products used are of fantastic quality. My favourite dish was the beef cheek, perfectly braised and melting in the mouth and very gelatinous the way I expected it to be. The salt and pepper squid had a nice sweet and sour dressing drizzle over it although i could enjoy the squids a bit more crispy with the dressing only in the salad and not so much on the squids. The other dishes sounded very appealing and would love the come back to try them out too. Ill get straight to the highlight of the evening and that was Carmen the wait staff. She explained all the specials to us, gave us enough time to settle in and made some great recommendations and came and checked on us every now and then to make sure we had everything we needed. She served us with a smile through the evening.Great place and would definitely go back.

Belinda Wellings: Service was attentive and our steak mains were delicious. The brussells sprouts as a side were divine!The restaurant was empty the night we were there so the vibe was unfortunately a bit lacking.BUT we could not fault the staff, including their wine matching recommendation, and so we decided it was a lovely intimate dinner in this beautifully presented space.

Mark Swan: We started with a drink in the upstairs bar. The maître d’ in charge of the bar was welcoming and friendly. Good selection of wines by the glass.Dinner in the cellar was a knock-out. We opted for the four-course tasting menu, and each course was excellent. Well thought-out flavour combinations and a careful pairing of accompanying wines. Service was on point - our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable.The price for pre-dinner drinks, plus the tasting menu and wine flight, was much less than we would have anticipated. Excellent value for money.Highly recommended.

Cosy and interesting decor.Staff were attentive and friendly.I had the tasting menu which had highlights like the kingfish terrine.The cute butter and crusty bread was also a highlight.All other dishes were ok but not ones I would return to in a hurry.

Me Pips: We’ve been to Golden Boy so many times. Yeah, it’s that good. Tonight we had great table service - thank you Isaiah! And it got me thinking what’s so great about Golden Boy. I mean apart from the spectacular food. It’s the customer service. The wait staff know the menu and are passionate about the dishes, relaying the details with wide eyed enthusiasm. A delight as always.
Sara: My daughter took me to Golden Boy on a Monday at lunchtime. We were celebrating my birthday as well as her own, which both occur in August.We chose to order the tuk tuk menu rather than having a full a la carte. We mentioned what type of tastes we had when it came to Asian fusion/Thai food and let the staff serve us a variety of dishes. The portions were extremely generous and absolutely delicious. The staff waited until we had consumed one dish before bringing on another. We can highly recommend the betel leaf with ocean trout if you enjoy something spicy - such delicate little servings, and the soft shell crab dish was a particular winner. Diners have both spoon and fork as cutlery or can use chopsticks if preferred.Coconut ice cream was an ideal dessert.Chilled wine accompanied our meal.The young man who waited on us was a delight.I cannot speak highly enough of Golden Boy and am at a loss to understand the couple of negative reviews I have read. The positives certainly outweigh that minority anyway.

Georgie, who served us, was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. She gave good advice too.The food itself was to die for. Keith Seanard: We have gotten into the habit of doing the chefs choice menus and this was one of the best. The waitress asked about preferences and I had a beef main and everyone else got to share seafood and chicken. Don’t be fooled by the small serving sizes, I left feeling very full. The food was fresh and seasoned perfectly. Since it was my wife’s birthday, they brought her a funny desert. I have been to Golden 4 times and it never disappoints.We were served by Georgia who informed us she had only been working there for a month but her service was exceptional and she said she was really enjoying working there.The food was amazing and a great variety. The 8 courses we shared was more than enough food and we were never waiting too long between dishes. Can’t recommend a better place and we are looking forward to our next time there.

Joanne Hoskings: If I could give more than 5/5 I would. Food, staff and atmosphere just wow!!It is definitely up there with one of the best dining experiences we have had and we loved being able to sit at the bar section to watch all the food cooked and prepared first hand.When we ate in Adelaide next,we will definitely be back.

Foodie Files Melbourne: We visited Jasmine for dinner which is a lovely little spot, intimate and dimly lit with an impressive atmosphere. Indian as a cuisine generally seems to offer fine dining as a rarity or incredibly casual venues with nowhere in between but this straddles the two as an excellent middle ground.We had samosas which didn’t seem particularly traditional to me and the chicken tikka which was a small serve with a kick to it. Each main comes with an individual plate of rice but naturally we had to order an ingenious blue cheese naan also. I enjoyed the eggplant dish, the lamb korma and the butter chicken. Was it my favourite ever Indian no but it was certainly tasty

Gary Niblock: A stunning restaurant with a beautiful ambience. I had the Punjabi lamb tandoori and it was delicious along with the daal and rice. The naan was also perfect. I'd also like to add that the service was excellent and felt very personal despite being a first-time customer from interstate. I'd definitely come back again next time I'm in Adelaide.

Chee T: I recently had an incredible dining experience at Ginza Miyako, a Japanese restaurant that offers an all-you-can-eat menu. Despite the all-you-can-eat format, the quality of the food was outstanding. Every dish was prepared with great attention to detail and presented beautifully. From the fresh sashimi and sushi to the deliciously tender grilled meats, every bite was a delight.The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, ensuring our glasses were always full and our plates promptly cleared. Tom Buck: I went here with my friend earlier today. It was a great experience. The food was delicious. The service was impeccable. The waitress was perfect! Everything about this restaurant was so good. I really enjoyed the calm and welcoming atmosphere. The music in the background was very relaxing. Despite being situated on a busy street in Adelaide city, entering this restaurant felt like being transported to a quiet little place in Kyoto. Fantastic experience! Thank you!

And I am glad that I listened to the recommendations.Oggi is a fine restaurant with a no nonsense menu where anything ordered would be good in my opinion. I ended up having a few starters and 2 pastas - all of which was quite excellent. For dessert, I had the tiramisu which was fantastic too.For cocktail lovers, I’d recommend having the Negroni.Now I’ll also recommend ppl visiting Adelaide to have a meal or two at Oggi 🙂
