Acca Dacca Mick: A very interesting piece of local history combined with a nice peaceful walking path along the Torrens river. Keep an eye out above for the odd sleeping koala and don’t forget to check out the community book swap station in the little car parking spot next to the entrance. Was a fun selection of books for primary school aged kids there on the day I visited.

Paul Jury: Cool place to visit

Ned Bajic: We call it the Indiana Jones Bridge haha, a lot of fun 👍🏻

Zafar Ali: Amazing

A Team: Nice bridge!

Soup Adelaide: It was cool alas it was closed due to path construction which was a shame

Jason & Min Lee Beaufrere: An all time family favourite! I loved it as a teen, then we loved taking our boys as kids and now we walk our dog across there. Try to spot turtles and other wildlife in the river while standing on the bridge.

Sukumar Sinha: This is a little piece of gem. Enjoyed the walk.

Michael scholz: Love this place.....one of Adelaides hidden gems

V Ela: Nymeria isn't a big fan of the oscillation created when others start walking.

George DrChip: Lots of fun

Julie Ann Fidge: A step back in time hidden amongst the suburbs come and discover history in the making 🏡🌁

Birkenhead Bridge: what do users think?

Steve Hinder: Well I thought it's about time for a review Of my job.. Yes, I operated The Bridge from 1981-1994. Powered by 4 40hp electric motors 2 per side. A huge crown wheel and pinion Just like a cars differential but in a huge scale. Back in the days before the it was computerized we had to use our own judgement when to put the brakes on so the spans wouldn't come to a sudden stop. I think around 1985 the operation was computerized. No judgement needed. As operators we worked around the clocks 7 days a week. Not only keeping our eyes and ears open for boats we also took out the after hours service for the Highways Department, taking all calls from the public. Like traffic signals problems we actually had the computer system of Adelaide’s traffic signal system. bad road conditions, floods etc. On Ash Wednesday I took 384 calls on my 8 hour shift from the public we all had marine radio licences and our cabin was fitted out with highways UHF & marine VHF & 27meg radios. I recall a pan pan pan distress call on VHF boat taking in water so i called marine police All ended up good. Well that's a bit of the running of the Birkenhead Bridge. As far as today I have no idea.. Cheers from Steve Hinder.

Garry Thompson: I go there a lot for fishing. I got a port Jackson shark off the warf and the occasional salmon trout. Lately not much going on.

Janos Veresbaranji: Every time we walk close by I hope to see the bridge open. Not much luck lately; still an interesting piece of engineering, a double leaf drawbridge.

Michelle Attrill: An icon in the Port

Vicki Vernon: What a great place to wander around and take photos, a mixer of Old and new buildings and structures.

Rex Varcoe: Walk the Bridge on a nice day and take a photo. Port Adelaide is coming along.

Melissa Nguyen: A beautiful river, its beautiful in all environments and at all times, whether its day or night. its a useful way to cross River Torrens and get to the Adelaide Oval and the sight of lights reflecting onto the water and you standing on the bridge is such a pretty sight you must go and see. Go this bridge if you ever get to visit Adelaide, its worth it

A N: Beautiful bridge in a great setting.

H R: Great bridge, even though it may seem slow after an event, its still heaps better than before

R. S.: Great spot and good views of the river and city skyline.

V K: Absolutely lovely idyllic landscapes and views, ideal for long leisure walks, jogging and fitness

Robert Goh: Nice bridge over the River Torrens

ziard Hassim: Calm, quite and beautiful surroundings. Ideal for a evening stroll.

Lindsay Eden: A lovely graceful passage across the river.Taken from any angle it looks beautiful. Designed to be a light touch on the river. It does that in spades. We had the pleasure viewing from the river as well as the casino bar, along with the view from the riverbank.

Par Hwy: Some simple things are more beautiful and more admirable for their simplicity and this bridge has a strength and confidence of simplicity. Yet it's got style, friends. Glass panels at the footings. I'm just opining in lieu of actual architectural knowledge. I did enjoy walking along this bridge.

Diane H: Beautiful!

Cara Mia: A nice wide bridge, today was the first time I've walked across it. It wasn't crowded, which made it a pleasant stroll from Adelaide Oval across the river to the Adelaide railway station.

David La: Nice bridge

Christopher Penn: Suitable for photography

scopez: bridge went up while i was walking across, almost fell off and diedwould come back for another one

Brett: If bridges are your thing you'll love it..

Sam Calligaris: Does its job I guess, never fallen off 😂

Janos Veresbaranji: Cuts travel time and it is a free show to watch the single leaf open - unless one is stuck in the queue waiting to cross.

Mr Black: Not bad to cross, but if the bridge is up, it can be quite a wait. Also the traffic can back up for several kilometres. The Birkenhead bridge was closed, so we took the Port River Expressway and got caught at the lights in the left lane, so we had to wait as we couldn't uturn. All in all we saw the "One and All" training sailing ship. Plus it was father's Day and was with my son, so he had on thing taken off his bucket list.

Raj Singh: Interesting to observe how the section of the bridge is raised to allow larger vessels to enter the Port from the outer harbour area. This generally results in traffic backing up on either sides of the bridge. After the vessel enters the Port, it takes approximately one minute for the bridge to be lowered again before traffic can once again cross over the bridge again. It is most certain very interesting to watch.

Ronald Sutton: great

Jon Turn: Visiting this Art Gallery was a rewarding experience. The gallery houses an impressive range of artworks, with a strong focus on Australian art. The space is thoughtfully organized, and the staff are accommodating. However, some of the exhibits felt somewhat disjointed, lacking thematic coherence. The gallery's historical pieces are particularly noteworthy, but the modern art sections could use more context and explanation. Sandra Holmes: We arrived unannounced on Sunday to look for some info from the 1960's. Anne Marie was really generous with her time and she found our requested materials. Amazing! We were able to read and take pictures of the pages of interest in a reading room, before the books were returned to the storage area in the basement. We received 5 Star Customer Service and it was a wonderful experience.

Vina T: The most beautiful library we have been in Australia. Walking into the 2nd floor immediately transport you to the past. Books on 2nd floor are available to be touched, smelled, and held. 3rd floor books aren’t as they are National Geographic collection. There are exhibitions on 1st floor too. Beware the Mortlock wing closes at the same time as the Art Gallery. Was hoping there could be like brochures/guide books so we could learn the history or the story behind the designs without having to google in on the spot, as people will definitely appreciate more when we understand.

Josh: Without a doubt one of the most beautiful and iconic places in Adelaide!Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …

Maurice: Absolutely bloody fantastic !! Having taken on many renovations to our home over the last 12 months, we have encountered our fair share of dodgy operators claiming to be professionals. Country blinds Unley, in particular Tim and Rob our installers have proven that good old fashioned service still exists. We had curtains for 7 rooms installed and the attention to detail is second to none. We highly recommend country blinds Unley. Thanks again for a job well done. Regards Maurice and Joyleen.👍
