After some disappointing experiences with other instructors, Carmen truly stood out.The first instructor we tried simply taught my son to stay between the lines on the road. It would have been beneficial if they had taught my son the standard driving procedures and to check his blind spots. The second instructor arrived in a V8 Mustang for my son’s eighth lesson, claiming it was the same as driving the 2004 Subaru Liberty he had been practicing in. The third instructor only offered 90 or 120-minute lessons. My son struggled to maintain focus for the full 90 minutes, and the instructor often signed off only one CBA unit per lesson, sometimes none, despite my son clearly driving well. This instructor even used a ruler in the backseat to check parking, and it took 4 hours to teach my son 90-degree parking. At the rate units were being signed off, it would have taken 30 lessons to complete.Frustrated, I came across Prepare to Pass on YouTube while looking for driving lesson videos to aid my son. I saw students sharing their positive experiences with Carmen, praising the unique tips and tricks they learned. Prepare to Pass quickly organized an assessment lesson for my son within days of my inquiry.Carmen was a breath of fresh air – friendly, authentic, and professional. Carmen provided honest feedback, highlighting areas of improvement and acknowledging what my son was doing right. Carmen taught my son reverse parallel parking in just 10 minutes, a task that took the previous instructor 4 hours for a simpler maneuver. Carmen gave us comprehensive guides to help my son understand the government standards required to pass the VORT test and to drive safely and competently on the roads. Carmen explained the importance of indicating, checking blind spots, and provided a thorough understanding of safe driving practices.Carmen recommended 5-6 lessons for my son and continuously reassessed his progress. Carmen provided detailed written feedback after each lesson, helping us understand what needed practice. These guides ensured that we were all on the same page during practice sessions. After the sixth lesson, Carmen booked my son for the VORT test with confidence, and my son passed on his first attempt despite his initial nervousness.Carmen is a wonderful instructor who genuinely cares about his students and works hard to ensure they become safe and competent drivers quickly. We will miss Carmen, and even my son, who initially struggled with feedback, eagerly awaited each lesson because of Carmen’s dedication and supportive approach. I cannot speak more highly of Carmen – he is simply the best instructor we have encountered.

However, Anna was extremely nice and patient and explained everything perfectly in a way I understood. Same with Cheynie, my VORT test examiner.I 100% recommend this driving school and these 2 instructors.

Adam Ab: I contacted Mitcham Driving School to learn how to drive a manual, and they are one of the few places which offer manual driving lessons. I have had my full license for a couple of years, but recently bought a manual, which I quickly discovered was much more nuanced than driving an automatic.I had Daniel as my instructor who was brilliant. He explained all the details of driving a manual, from the clutch, to driving generally, to hill starts, and everything in between. He's a calm and patient instructor, and after 1 lesson I was able to drive a manual.
