Jack Lastname: This place is magical. Highly recommended if you are alternative and/or queer. I came here for their UK Garage night with my current partner and we felt very safe and welcome to dance and be cute on the dance floor. You really feel that antisocial people are not welcome here, and thus do not come here. This is one of the best venues in all of Adelaide/Tarndanya.My only constructive note is that the toilets are a little gross 😅

Tim Stew: for about five years ancient world has been my go to bar in Adelaide. It's pretty good and it's variety of karaoke on a Wednesday and live music over the weekend. If you can catch ancient world on a night where they're bands you get really good, intimate performances and I feel like a lot of the bands really do produce their best material in ancient world band. Space some of the electronica can be a little bit hit and miss, but I'm more a rock 'n' roll fan myself, I would recommend ancient world on any bucket list of backpackers, interstate, and international people wanting to get a taste of what Adelaide underground scene is like on any given night Tuesday to SundayVegetarian options: Excellent scan that was vegetarian/vegan sausage sizzle better than Bunnings

The other meals people at the table had were the Thai red curry from the specials, the crispy chicken burger and the crumbed prawns. All of the meals were good.There is a wide selection of beers on taps, as there was before the renovation. I’m sure there are plenty of other drinks available too - both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.As for the atmosphere, since the renovation, pretty much all surfaces are hard and although it wasn’t that busy, the noise was overwhelming. The music was quite load and patrons were having to shout to be heard. It was the one part of the night which really spoiled the experience.

Katarina: We really LOVED #3 beer and the bartender was extremely helpful, running us through all the craft beers. We sat upstairs enjoying all the greenery with the plants and DIY welded dim chandelier. Would recommend.

We enjoyed a long lunch, selecting the ‘feed me’ menu, which allowed us to sample several shared dishes, which we complemented with brilliantly recommended wines and rounded off with divinely crafted cocktails. 2KW excelled in every aspect of the culinary journey, however the absolute standout was the customer service provided by the front of house team, in particular Lisa, who delivered outstanding attention to detail, expertly balanced with knowledge, warmth and professionalism. David Paul: Sound system was not the best yet I've seen Beats on Parade play at other gigs without sound issues. Maybe replace the cables as whenever the DJ spoke it was this inaudible high pitched shrill. Once the DJ stopped speaking it wasn't too bad despite the system cutting out on one speaker. Once it was stable, it was fine. Don't use an MC if the mics aren't working - trust me, I'm a sound engineer.
Scott Hawken: One of the nicest hotels in Adelaide with a great restaurant and bistro with excellent food and friendly staff.
Hannah Alison: Gabby was immediately welcoming, so polite and friendly to all of us, good humour too. She is good at what she does!Food was delicious and presented really nicely.Tables were set up nicely, and was comfortably warm even though it’s freezing outside.My daughter had had her first taste of chocolate and approved.. Vegetarian options: I had 2 vegetarian appetisers and both were delicious and decent portions. I noticed a few v/gf options on the menuKid-friendliness: I thank Gabby again for how nice she was to my daughter, immediately getting her a high chair and offering plastic cups without me even asking. Always saying hello when she came to the table.She is a sweetheart and made our experience more than beautiful.Sorry about the mess on the table! 😝

The restaurant Bread & Bone and Maybe Mae are located in the same building, expect that for Maybe Mae you go downstairs to the basement and then try to find the “invisible door” 🙂Ended up trying 4 drinks - Bill Murray, Corpse Reviver, Odd Company and Poolside. Tan Me Baby: I’ve eat here and enjoyed takeaway a few times and figure it’s time for a review.The food each and every time has been delicious. I’ve enjoyed the Green Veggie Laksa many times, the Malaysian Chicken Curry and on my last visit the Sambal Char Kueh Tiaw and the Slow-cooked Lamb Shank and they are now the clear front runners.It was very quiet in the dining room as it was a mid week evening but perhaps some louder background music is a good idea as the two other groups inside were very loud and it took over the whole venue.The team are friendly and have always shown us a lovely time.On the downside, more attention on the cleanliness of the bathrooms needs to be prioritised. It wasn’t a great experience.I do also like that their menu items offer a wine pairing suggestion and there are a good range of GF options.
Claire Page: Lovely historic hotel. It has been decorated very nicely inside. We had the whole place to ourselves when we went for lunch on a Sunday around 1.30pm. The service was very good and attentive. We had steaks which were cooked perfectly and tasted great. Parking is free in the street right out the front. You have to go down some steps to get to the main bar so it is not fully accessible but they have attempted to at least make the dining area and entrance wheelchair accessible.

Paulii: It's not often a themed bar gets it right but Bibliotheca is on point. It's a cosy, tucked away bar with a definitive library feel. My friend and I got a cocktail each, The Drink That Shall Not Be Named and The Golden Ticket. Both of these were incredible, as was the service. Our bartender knew her stuff and correctly chose our drinks to suit us when we asked for help. I also enjoyed perusing all the secondhand books on the shelves and the traditional green library lamps scattered around the room. Really want to go back with friends because this is a place I want to show off, especially as an avid book lover.

You feel this… magic, this weird vibe like the world’s running on a secret clock, a clock that understands that knowledge and passion are the only currencies worth a damn.The truth is, I’ve spent more time in that dark corner of the world than I’d care to admit. You’re never too far away from its siren call, that little voice in the back of your head whispering, “Hey, you want a good time? Go to Peripheral. You know you do.” The shelves are stacked with every damn bottle under the sun, and you get the feeling that every single one of them has a story, a reason for being there.You know, it’s like learning a language, not one you’d find in a textbook. Each drink is a conversation. Those behind the bar, they’re getting to know you, and you’re getting to know them. It’s this beautiful exchange, you both come away a little richer for it.Don’t get me wrong, the drinks are phenomenal. But we’ve all had those “exceptional cocktail” reviews. I’m talking about something deeper. This place, it challenges you. It throws you a curveball, something you’d normally scoff at, and then… bam! It changes you. I used to be one of those “no rum” guys. Couldn’t stomach it, not even in the most dedicated rum bar. But at Bar Peripheral, I told Vini, quite simply “I don’t like rum.” and that mischievous glint in his eyes, well, by the end of the night, I was eating my words.In the food scene, we talk about “cook’s eats” – places where cooks can just relax and enjoy a good meal. If there where "chef's drinks" this would be it. Dark, quiet, intimate, eccentric, a bit cheeky, and definitely, definitely not for everyone. A place to remove yourself from bright lights, loud noise, and constant visual clutter. Somewhere where after a few moments, the whole world melts away and you are just there, able to sit and relax and truly just 'enjoy'. A place that leaves you with a smile on your face and treasured memories. That, my friends, is exactly why it’s so damn special.

Soraya Packer: Tanuk was such a lovely waitress and so sexy, she was so helpful, her recommendations made my night, such an asset to the bar. Definitely worth the visit. Perry was so nice and efficient at making our cocktails and so helpful what would they do without him. Kai was so lovely and fantastic. Dave was so patient I really appreciate his help. This is a must visit for Adelaide.
