Daniel Bird: Brad and all the team @ A1 have been great to deal with, we are renovating a 1968 home and are carrying out the work in stages, A1 have accommodated this with little stress.Latest areas have been hallway and master bedroom, we have chosen to lime/white the timber to give the home a coastal feel and the floors are better than expected.The floors have been almost preserved under multiple layers of linoleum and carpet so some back breaking efforts to get them ready however a very gratifying project.Hope we can finish the project off in the 12 months or so.Some photos below, big shoutout to Chris for this stage - outstanding work and a really pleasant guy.

Went to Andersens and the lovely Olivia explained that they didn't have any but......if you would like to look at our carpet choices we can make you one. We've been looking for ages and apparently if you don't have it, it can't be done. I went back the next day with my husband, looked at our choices and 4 weeks later we have our rug which looks fantastic. I have worked in the customer service industry for over 40 years and understand it's all about asking questions about needs and Olivia did just that. If you are looking for that rug/carpet that others say you can't get then go and see Olivia and the team on Saints Road. Not only that. The price was so much less than we thought it would be. Plenty to choose from, fantastic service topped with a lovely smile. Couldn't ask for more. Thank you Olivia.

We had a new floor put down by Modern Floors 3 years ago and we had always intended to do the rest of the house, but we just couldn’t quite afford the last two larger rooms back then. This has been a lesson to us because when we went back to them to initiate the next stage of the renovation, they told us that the manufacturer of laminate floor had stopped making the product. The team at modern Floors spent a great deal of time with us going through the showroom and trying to find a product that looked very similar which we managed to find. We were concerned because the level of the floor was going to be higher, but they found ways in which this could be done by their floor layer so that it all blended in really well. In the end, a floor layer turned up and did the job and the end result was absolutely spectacular. I would never ever use a large retailer because going to modern floors means that you will get personalised experience and it’s just so nice to have a company to go back to who will stand by their product. He doesn’t care for wooing you and tricking you into doing business with you, rather he gives you the facts and best advice he can. This is important when investing in such an important project in your home and he came through with the goods - at a lower price than many other competitors. The installers were very professional and did a fantastic job. Would highly recommend, he probably has the flooring you like from another flooring company, and he’ll most likely do a better price first time around.

We are mostly very happy with Solomons Kensington - excellent service and communication, advice, and they were able to book in the job a week out so it fit in prior to removalists bringing in furniture etc. However we were disappointed with the installers - We weren't present for install, and arrived to carpets with dirty marks needing vacuuming, and dirty hand prints on freshly painted walls. We expected higher standards in the way they finished their work.

The quote was the best price out of the 3 quotes I received from places. The only thing I could make a comment on, as it was my first time buying carpets, is making sure there is sufficient space underneath the room doors if you choose a thicker carpet, as I will need to have a couple altered, but it's not a huge issue, just something I will consider when picking in future.Les who came to fit the carpets was friendly, quiet and efficient.
