There are so many opportunities to have up close and personal encounters with unique Australian wildlife at Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary. Book a Tour to wander from grassland, to rainforest, to wetland… There are 5 distinct habitats at the Sanctuary, where you will see koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, and more, all enjoying life in their natural surrounds.

4worldlovers: See all your favourite Australian animals such as Tasmanian Devils, Wombats, Dingos, Echidnas and more. Walk amongst and feed the Kangaroos and Wallabies and enjoy a cuddle with one of our Koalas.

We have a variety of exotic animals on display such as American Alligators, Meerkats, Otters, playful Monkeys and more.

A vast range of birds from Fairy Wrens to Ostriches and everything in between, some in enclosures but many free flying including a free range colony of rainbow lorikeets.

Discover snakes, lizards, frogs and mammals in our reptile house. Some very interesting displays that will keep you looking for more!

Have a cuddly encounter with one of our beautiful koalas daily at 11.30am and 2.30pm. At these times you can hold or pat our koalas, take your own photographs or just learn about these fascinating marsupials from our friendly keepers. *Fee applicable for koala holding and subject to conditions.

FIELD TRIP: Birds SA EXCURSION TERRAIN DIFFICULTY: Easy Meet at 8.30am at the corner of Port Gawler and Applebee Roads at Port Gawler. Oaklands Wetlands and Oaklands Estate Reserve is along Oaklands Road adjacent to the Sturt River sand Warradale Barracks.

Sightings of small groups of these magnificent birds became increasingly common in suburban and rural areas after they learnt to exploit the cones of exotic pines as a food source. Their distinctive flight silhouette with a large rounded head, deep leisurely wing beats, and echoing “whee-la” calls make them easy to recognise. Although regarded as “Vulnerable”, large flocks of up to 200 birds or more may nevertheless be regularly seen in winter in the Mount Lofty Ranges.
